24 Greatest Video Game Moments Of The 2000s

17. Riding The Train (And Hanging On For Dear Life) - Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow

Sadly, there's not a huge amount of demand for 'Best Train Levels' in gaming, but if the site ever puts one together, this will be near the top. Ubisoft's more serious take on the stealth genre has always maintained a certain demographic - primarily because the 'serious' parts of Metal Gear Solid were almost nowhere to be found in part two - and it was with Pandora Tomorrow that the team opened up the level designs to include the occasional spectacle or three. One such level that came across very well in screenshots was that of a moving train, complete with howling wind, passing carriages you'd need to dodge and an extremely intense few seconds where you try to climb along the underside of the carriage, the tracks just centimetres from hero Sam Fisher's head. Looking back now it might seem a bit underwhelming, but at the time - for an industry still yet to perfect the most high-octane parts of the silver screen - it was amazing.
