25 Greatest Video Game Box Art Of All Time

10. Ghouls 'N' Ghosts (Mega Drive)

In retrospect, Ghouls 'N' Ghosts - the sequel to Ghosts 'N' Goblins - was immensely innovative, as well as impeccably designed. It featured stunning visuals and unprecedented gameplay mechanics, as well as buckets of personality, consequently making it one of the better received games in the series, critically speaking. It was also ported to multiple systems after its release - including the Amiga, Commodore 64, and ZX Spectrum, its box illustrations ranging from bizarre to downright forgettable.

By comparison, the version featured on Sega Mega Drive was colourful, animated and exciting, generally outclassing previous, as well as subsequent versions. It's completely unapologetic, refusing to tone down anything about the game, dialling everything upwards towards eleven, lightning bolts raining over the image of a golden knight battling a massive, hulking cyclops.

Awesome, just awesome.
