Sometimes you need a title whose heart is firmly attached to the twitchy releases of the 80s and 90s, and these are the questions Hotline Miami subtle asks through its difficulty alone, before rewarding you with one of the most downright fun game engines of all time.

Blood-soaked thrills, vicious melee slams and a thumping synthwave soundtrack all combine to power you through a healthy number of levels, all centring around wiping out the opposition in a way that keeps your combo going for the entirety.

Sequel, Wrong Number, continues exactly where the original leaves off, but when all its separate parts combine and you find yourself 'in the zone', reacting as if character Jacket's moveset was your own, there's nothing better.
