Dialogue choices. We all make them on a daily basis. Do we tell someone they look lovely, or tell the truth and that they look ridiculous? Do we talk to someone about the weather, or about any of the literally millions of other topics you could talk about which are more interesting? If you're British, you definitely know the answer to that second question.

Dialogue choices in games don't tend to work the same way as they do in real life. It'll give you an option of what to say, and instead of saying what you just selected, they'll say something completely different in a completely different way. The context may be vaguely similar, but nine times out of ten it probably isn't.

We all get a little tongue-tied sometimes in real life and say things on the spur of the moment, but we aren't limited to making choices which are evil or good, or loving or clever. Thankfully, we generally say what we mean to say as well without saying something completely different.
