Paul Walker's untimely death last November cast a dark pall over the production of Furious 7, which had seen Walker complete roughly 60% of his scenes prior to his demise. As a result, Walker's Brian O'Conner character has been retired in a rejigged plot, with stunt doubles, his two brothers and CGI reportedly being used to give the actor and character the send-off they both deserve. Whether director James Wan has found a way to truly make sense of this messy situation remains to be seen, though the trailer released to date suggests that the action is business as usual: that is to say, complete and utter mayhem. Parachuting cars and giant mini-guns are no doubt just the beginning of it all. With new cast members including Jason Statham as villain Ian Shaw, Kurt Russell, Djimon Hounsou and martial arts legend Tony Jaa, alongside a returning Lucas Black (star of Tokyo Drift), Furious 7 will hopefully overcome its production issues to become another mental entry into the rejuvenated franchise.
