Awards season is in full swing, and as Boyhood and Birdman appear to be taking home the majority of the plaudits, one has to wonder how the complexion of the race might change over the next 2 months. Can Martin Luther King biopic Selma find a way to break into the pack, or is it going to be a two-horse race all the way to the finish line? Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting this year, and given his fine work on the Tonys and Emmys, he'll doubtless be an absolute blast. As always, the real highlights of the bloated 3-hour ceremony are when things don't go right or a presenter is too wasted to get through the auto-cue, so hopefully there will be plenty of light relief to make the famously self-serious ceremony worth a watch.
