3. Kyosuke

In for a penny, in for a pound. With Akira’s debut in the Street Fighter series, we could see other characters from Rival Schools dust off their uniforms. But who should join Akira? I have only one real candidate: Kyosuke.

But why him over someone like Batsu? The problem is play style. Batsu is a bit too much like Ryu, Ken, and other characters that hurl Hadoukens. Sean would get away with it because he’s untrained, while Dan’s just really bad at fighting. Batsu is too much like Ryu in many ways, even having his own Shinku-Hadouken.

Kyosuke would be a better fit. Not only do Capcom have the template for his moveset thanks to Capcom vs. SNK 2, he has an unusual fighting style. He’s most like Guile, but can conjure electric sparks from the aether. His inclusion would depend on whether Capcom wants more Rival Schools representation, but this suave student would be a safe bet.
