5 Classic Video Games Of The '90s

2. Tekken

tekkencharacters Round one... FIGHT! The bad boy of beat-em-ups had to be here: 8 of the world's deadliest fighters enter the King of Iron Fist Tournament and only one can come out on top. Tekken's core mechanics have changed little over the years, and just like riding a bike you never forget how to pick up and play. Again Tekken wasn't the only one of its kind around at the time, but it quickly dominated the competition with 3D level designs, and fantasticly over-the-top characters you couldn't help but fall in love with. The storyline has always been abit confusing, but honestly I've never met anyone who played it for it's story, however the combat was very fast paced and driven with simple combo's which led to it being a smaller learning curve then others of the same genre. The greatest part of Tekken was not only could you play it on your home console, but it was a feature point of most arcades, and I still love heading out to the arcade and having a crack at all-comers. From humble beginings Tekken has spawned 6 sequals, 2 spin-offs and a crossover with Capcom's title beat-em-up Street Fighter, and hopefully will have many more years in its life.
