5 Great Spider-Man Video Games (And 5 That Sucked)
4. Great: Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
Ultimate Spider-Man from 2005 was loads of fun and the release of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows in 2008 gave us another worthy game, but Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions was by far the best game since Spider-Man 2 in 2004.
For this title, one Spider-Man was not enough. Along with Peter Parker, players jump through dimensions to play as a web slinger from Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Man 2099, each with their own unique worlds and villains.
Playing as four different Spider-Men in a well-balanced crossover story line featuring new takes on classic villains and and Neil Patrick Harris as Peter Parker makes this game a win even without the familiar open-world setting from previous entries.
Despite being released soon after Batman: Arkham Asylum, and therefore receiving immediate comparisons, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions took every punch on the chin and shook them off, so much so that it birthed a sequel of sorts in Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
Most importantly, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions very much influenced the creation of the comic book Spider-Verse which would of course go on to give us an Oscar winning animated film and hopes that a live-action Spider-Verse is right around the corner.
