The Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games may be seeing a contemporary resurgence, but the real heroes of those titles are the X-Men. X-Men Legends released by Activision in 2004 was the template for future UA games.

This action role-playing that met critical acclaim was only made better in its sequel, X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse.

Better cutscenes, online multiplayer capabilities, and a phenomenal cast of playable and non-playable characters from the X-Men, Brotherhood, and Marvel lore created one of the best X-Men games to date.

The success of the two X-Men Legends titles had a direct and positive impact on future Marvel video games. Unfortunately, X-Men fans would have to settle for limited X-Men inclusion in the subsequent Ultimate Alliance titles.
