7 Point-And-Click Adventure Video Game Classics That Deserve A Revival

1. Grim Fandango

Why LucasArts€™ skeletal classic Grim Fandango has never received a sequel is a mystery that any adventure game protagonist would struggle to get to the bottom of. Inspired by Mexican folklore, this noir-style adventure follows a Land of the Dead travel agent named Manny Calavera, who discovers that something is more rotten than usual in the afterlife when an innocent soul is cheated out of the eternal rest she deserves. Grim Fandango was several shades darker than the rest of the LucasArts catalogue, but just as witty and mentally challenging as its studio brethren. Released at the tail end of the point-and-click movement, the game is one of the studio€™s few 3D success stories and living - or perhaps €˜undead€™ is more apt - proof that adventure gaming was always possible in this graphical format. Manny was resurrected for Grim Fandango Remastered in early 2015, and the last time we saw him, he was heading towards his eternal rest at the Ninth Underworld, in glorious HD no less - but surely such a memorable character has more adventures in him. As much as it seems wrong denying Manny the chance to rest in peace, it would be worth the niggling feelings of guilty just to be reacquainted with him.
