7 Reasons Bloodborne Is The Game Of The Generation
1. That Stunning Art Direction
I mean, come on. Look how good Bloodborne looks in every screenshot.
From Software are very, very good at world-building and, even by their own high standards, Bloodborne stands above. Its early Victorian aesthetic lends itself to a dark, atmospheric game that pulls the audience in from the first moments. You can’t help but stand and take in the high castles and jagged walls swirling around you everywhere you look.
I myself have been glassed by more werewolves that I’d care to admit while ogling a particularly mesmerising lamp-post in the distance.
It's a dark, atmospheric framing of a world unseen in any game that has come before. Lovecraft aside, the environment brings to mind some of the greats of early Victorian literature. The spectres of ‘Frankenstein’s Monster’ and ‘Mr. Hyde’ always seem to be swelling around you, and it creates a gaming experience that, in my mind, has not been matched this generation.
