7 Reasons Why Overwatch Will Be The Next Big Multiplayer Shooter
3. Console Ports Will Still Get Frequent Updates
The mere mention of multiplayer and consoles will likely attract the attention of your average PC Master Race user, like predators being drawn to the scent of blood, or a Steam user to a summer sale discount. Driving in massive flocks, they will undoubtedly remind you that 'the only way to go is to ditch the consoles, peasants'.
After all, won't Overwatch be given a vanilla port for the consoles, ready to be ditched and left to the hackers to prey on after a handful of years? Won't it receive a similar, cruel fate to The Orange Box's port of everyone's favourite war-themed hat simulator Team Fortress 2?
Not so. Thanks to the power of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, no one will be left in the dust. All ports will receive regular updates and will hopefully not be forgotten over time.
“What about the frame-rate?,” the PC Master Race are probably crying, “The consoles will be capped at a choppy 30 frames-per-second, unlike the glorious and fabulous PC. And it'll have a terrible resolution in comparison... right?”
Again, this is not the case. Expect a smooth and sexy 60 frames-per-second for the consoles. It's usually consistent, with the occasional rare hiccup here and there. As for the resolution, Overwatch will be available at a lovely 1920x1080 and a true 1080p. Rest easy, console owners!
