7 Upcoming Video Games That Have Ignored Massive Mistakes
5. Shenmue III
The Lesson: Mighty No. 9
Though Shenmue III broke the internet when it was announced on Sony's E3 stage back in 2015, that initial wave of goodwill quickly soured. Firstly it was because the sequel was being Kickstarted (back when just about every returning creator was using the platform to capitalise on nostalgia), with new stretch goals constantly introduced and questions about who else was funding the project already shrouding the project in strange secrecy.
Since then fans have seen little from the game, with it receiving one delay after another while fans remain in the dark as to what the hell is happening. Unfortunately, there was another game which essentially made all the same mistakes, being announced to unprecedented fan demand and then bombing as the devs treated the people who funded it like walking ATMs: Mighty No. 9.
Now, Shenmue III hasn't publicly made as many blunders as that title, but it seems a similar mentality is there. The overriding feeling is that the fans will love it regardless, but so far the devs haven't given them any reason to be optimistic.
