7 Video Game Stories That Were Spoiled Before Release

In the run-up to Spider-Man PS4's release, a demo was shared that showed Spidey getting beaten up by a team of villains: Vulture, Scorpion, Mister Negative, Electro, and Rhino. During this sequence, it was also hinted that these villains were working for someone else, with Negative, at one point, mentioning an unnamed "he".

Clearly, Insomniac and Sony hoped to keep the identity of this mysterious benefactor a secret, but unfortunately for them - and for the fans - this twist was spoiled a few months before the game launched.

The leak stemmed from Chris Jai Alex, a voice actor in the game. In June 2018 - during an interview with YouTuber Drift0r - he accidentally let slip that Doctor Octopus was going to feature in the story, and sure enough, the game's third act is all about Doc Ock's quest to defeat Spidey and wreak havoc throughout New York.

Otto Octavius' transformation into his many-limbed alter-ego was treated as a big turning point in the game's story, so for anyone who found out about it beforehand, this early leak was hugely detrimental to their enjoyment of the plot.
