In what is at once one of the weirdest easter eggs in gaming history and also one of the coolest, you can indeed smash the face of John Romero co-lead designer of the original DOOM titles in DOOM 2, however, for many players, they wouldn't even realize they're doing it!
The Icon of Sin is the final boss battle in the almighty sequel to the monolithic first DOOM game. A towering and imposing skull that summons in demons to do away with the Doom Slayer however it can, and in order to send this bone boy packing, players had to ride an elevator up and shoot at just the right spot to blast apart its brain.
However, some cheeky pups decided to take a look around the place looking for secrets and uncovered that if you use the cheat "IDCLIP" you can phase right through the boss and uncover a startling secret. You see the boss was merely a facade and what the player is actually hitting in order to deal damage to The Icon Of Sin is John Romero's head on a spike!
The boss's audio even holds a clue to this truth as if you play it back in reverse it states "To Win The Game You Must Kill Me, John Romero"
