7. Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game Of The Movie
I like Peter Jackson's movie, and I like the game that it spun off. The ability to sneak my way through tropical jungles, avoiding any dinosaur that wants to make me his next meal, only to fill them full of 1930s lead when I mess it all up is invigorating. And then in complete contrast you get to play as the mighty King Kong, destroying native villages before wrestling dinosaurs in an attempt to save Anne before eventually confronting the military in New York. The spectacle is something to behold, and it's wonderfully cathartic. So why is it here on the list you may ask? Well, King King is a game that exists solely for achievement hunters (I could have just filled this list with movie tie-ins to be fair). It's easy enough to complete in one sitting (8 hours, if not less) and every achievement is unlocked through natural progression of the campaign. There just isn't any skill required to get there, and while that is fun for the duration but it won't light a fire in your belly. I don't tend to replay games that I've reached the ever elusive 100% on with the exception of games with very good multiplayer as a rule because I'm gaining nothing of value. And after one play, you might as well launch it.
I’ve been a film fan for as long as I can remember, with one of my earliest memories watching my dad’s copy of Star Wars one rainy afternoon in the mid-nineties. Then the 21st century happened, and my interests developed from there – mainly including comics and video-games, and recently an introduction into WWE. It’s a good time for popular culture.
