8 BEST Movie Tie-In Video Games EVER
2. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
Here's a rare case of a video game that's actually way better than the movie it's inspired by.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is actually a prequel to the first two Riddick movies - Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick - and follows Vin Diesel's Riddick as he attempts to escape the titular maximum-security hellhole.
In 2004, Escape from Butcher Bay was a technical triumph, and it holds up shockingly well today for the most part.
Butcher Bay is an ultra-immersive locale thanks to the many NPC inmates you're able to interact with, while first-person gameplay is balanced neatly between exploration, combat and stealth.
It's also totally apparent that Diesel, himself a huge video game fan, had some serious input and gave a fully committed performance as Riddick, rather than phoning it in as so many actors do for video game tie-ins.
The result is the strongest entry into the series to date, game or movie.
