8 Cancelled Wrestling Video Games

3. TNA Impact! 2

TNA Impact 2
Midway Games

Despite being in operation for the best part of two decades, the occasionally hexagonal world of Impact and its various prior guises has only received a solitary mainline digital recreation. To put that in context, ECW, whose heydey only lasted around five years, twice brought its brand of anarchy to disk trays. Even Atsushi Onita's balls-to-the-walls FMW managed a single console game, somehow evading Nintendo's censors to release on the Super Famicom in 1993.

But for that ready-made reason for failure, the 'global financial crisis', there may well have been a second non-handheld TNA game in the mid-2000s. In 2008, development was underway on a sequel to TNA Impact!, only for developers Midway to file for bankruptcy midway through, forcing a sale of all their assets - including the TNA license. We haven't had a console Impact game since - and probably won't.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
