8 Cancelled Wrestling Video Games

4. WWE No Mercy (Game Boy Color)

TNA Impact 2
THQ

As a companion to the N64's 'Best Wrestling Game Ever' No Mercy, a minuscule Game Boy Color version was scheduled with the intention of releasing simultaneously alongside its bigger brother.

Not much is known about the planned pared-down No Mercy, other that it most likely would have taken its cue from the Lilliputian WWF WrestleMania Natsume had similarly developed to correspond with its console counterpart. We also know that it would have linked up with the N64 version thanks to the new-fangled albeit rarely used Transfer Pak.

Data mined from the annals of the game's code revealed it was originally intended to allow players to teleport their GBC create-a-wrestler over to its 64-bit compeer - but not without taking them through an eight-match gauntlet, culminating with a ten-minute Ironman match against who else but Triple H?

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
