Despite your thoughts on the franchise overall, you cannot deny the sheer power Call Of Duty wields in the mainstream. Each year a new title is slopped out into the mouths of all the little foul-mouthed birds who can't wait to gobble up more explosive set-pieces and hone their trash-talking skills, but that's not to say that the entire fanbase has been in unison across the franchise's tenure, hell it's not actually been in step for a long while now.

Back when Black Ops II moved the setting of the game into sci-fi territory the cracks began to show, as some fans embraced the new setting while others lashed out calling for a return to the series' roots. Therefore when Activision decided to double down on the futuristic fighting, it sparked a sort of civil war between COD fans, which culminated in the mass dislike bombing of Infinite Warfares reveal trailer, catapulting it to the top of YouTubes most disliked videos ever.

Yet before you think that this showcased all of the fans getting on the same side to dunk on the publisher, Former President and CEO of Activision Eric Hirshberg commented that preorders were up and that the like ratio on the trailer was also the highest it had ever been, meaning that while some fans were trying to make their voices heard, others were simply speaking the only language that Activision cared about ake with the money from their wallets.
