8 Failed Video Game Consoles That Had One Incredible Game

1. Amiga CD32: Alien Breed: Tower Assault

Alien Vs Predator
Team 17

Commodore's collapse signed the Amiga CD32's death warrant shortly after its arrival in 1993, and as a result, the console failed to attract much developer support. Ports make up the majority of its software library, but not all of them are to be dismissed.

One game which benefited from the system's powerful specs was Team 17's smash hit Alien: Breed Tower Assault. The developer was well known for going above and beyond when bringing its titles to the CD32, and this was no exception.

This was the same award-winning top-down shooter, enhanced with a new intro sequence, more detailed sprites and new moves for the player's repertoire. With the CD32's capabilities behind it, Tower Assault became definitive.

Alien: Breed Tower Assault proved that the Amiga CD32 could have carved out a place for itself in the market as an emporium of enhanced PC ports, and if you need any more proof that this was an essential purchase, it even came bundled with a remake of the excellent Alien Breed II: The Horror Continues.
