8 Hotly-Anticipated 2018 Video Games (That Will Get Delayed)
5. Kingdom Hearts III
After a long, laborious wait, Kingdom Hearts III was finally re-unveiled last year with a late 2018 release window tentatively pencilled in. The troubled sequel has been in production for what seems like an eon now, but because the team has finally finished up work on the similarly-troubled Final Fantasy XV, development is progressing full-steam ahead.
Still, despite showing off a new Toy Story world last year, the game is still as elusive as ever. Allegedly it was the decision to switch to Unreal Engine 4 mid-way through production that caused such extensive delays, but even though the resources are all there now, the lack of buzz surrounding the title isn't boding well.
There's a lot of legwork yet to be done, and although the game is no doubt going to get a huge blow-out later this year at press events like E3, it's possible that the sequel could slip into early 2019. Not only has the development itself been notoriously hit-and-miss, but the decision might also come down to pure business.
There's already a ridiculous amount of big names hitting the crowded holiday season, and Square Enix might want to give its sequel room to breathe and let it dominate the early months of next year.
