8 Most Wanted Video Game Remakes (That Would RUIN The Original)

3. Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3

Though the first two parts of the ongoing Final Fantasy VII Remake project have been met with wide acclaim, they haven't been without their vocal detractors.

Some decried Square Enix's decision to ditch the straight remake treatment in favour of a more meta, multiversal remix which incorporates the chronology of the original game itself.

And while Remake Part 3 is already in the early stages of development, it's going to be the toughest entry in the trilogy to get right, because it requires landing the ship in a way that satisfies the majority of fans - a Herculean task if there ever was one.

Given Rebirth's head-scratcher of an ending, Part 3 has a lot of explaining to do in order to iron out the particulars of the overall narrative - namely deciding whether it's going to faithfully recreate the original story or commit to a controversial deviation.

Either way, trilogy co-director Motomu Toriyama recently promised players that Part 3 will deliver an ending that's even better than that of the original game. There's nothing quite like setting nigh-on impossible expectations, right?

While there's no universe where Remake Part 3 doesn't come out, from what we've seen from the first two games, it seems damn-near guaranteed that Part 3's ending will leave a large swath of the fanbase disappointed with the entire enterprise, especially if it departs as much from the original as fans are now primed to expect.
