8 Most Wanted Video Game Remakes (That Would RUIN The Original)

2. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Rumours have been doing the rounds for a good while that Ubisoft is currently deep in development on a remake of arguably the single most beloved Assassin's Creed game, Black Flag.

And while many fans would love to see this pirate-themed, sea-faring entry given a loving remake, it doesn't take too much critical thought to appreciate why the remake is actually a big ol' Red Flag.

Firstly, consider Ubisoft's recent attempt to deliver a spiritual successor to Black Flag - their long-stalled live service game Skull and Bones, which finally crawled out of development hell earlier this year to an utterly indifferent response from players at large.

Is it really easy to believe that a publisher who took more than a decade to deliver a cack-handed Black Flag follow-up are worth trusting with an honest-to-God remake?

And beyond all this, just go back and play Black Flag - it's still an extremely impressive game from a visual standpoint, and moreover, its gameplay hasn't aged much at all. If you're a PC player with a 4K texture mod installed, the very idea of a remake basically feels redundant.

Plus, you just know that a contemporary Black Flag re-do would pepper it with even more Ubisoft collectathon nonsense and probably inject some live service slop into its veins for good measure too. Just... no.
