8 Reasons Why Bioshock 2 Is The Definitive Game In The Series
6. The Research Camera
Admittedly, the new research camera takes some getting used to. In the first Bioshock, it was all about trying to sneak up and snap a picture as quickly as possible before blasting that splicer with some electro bolt. It's not a flawed feature, but Bioshock 2 improves it.
Not only does the research camera work more like a video camera, it uses a formula based on variety and combinations to determine what score to receive on the enemy type. What this means is that the player maintains the fluidity of the battle while also encouraging different fighting styles.
The best analogy to make is how Mass Effect 2 improved upon Mass Effect. The original felt more turn-based in its delivery of fighting where battle stopped constantly to choose which power was best in the situation. Mass Effect 2 streamlined much of this, and the result is one of the best games of all time.
