2. Lacklustre Open World Missions - Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite may have been on of the most hotly anticipated games of 2021, but unfortunately thanks to it's rather lacklusture approach to multiplayer content drops, does seem to be dipping significantly in the months since release.

It's a shame as well, becuase thanks to the new powerups and approach to combat there is a lot to love in the moment to moment firefights, but thanks to a light on the ground suite of modes and a heavilly padded singleplayer experience, things aren't looking too great for the big Monster Chef.

One of the most egregious missteps was the games approach to open-world side missions, as nearly every scenario boils down to "drive here, shoot things that aren't marines, accidentally shoot things that are marines, drive away", and as such only detract from the overall epic scale of the narrative.

Plus I can't think of anything less important when the entire ring you're on might activate at any time or unleash some untold power than taking a twenty-minute detour to Shepard some goons back to base like a high-res version of Herdy Gerdy for the PS2.

Plus the rewards for doing so coming in the form of an expanded armory either forced players through the grind for better loadouts or made them actively rely on the few guns they had and thus bypassed all the experimentation this game touted in the run-up to launch.
