8 Recent Video Game Mechanics That Absolutely BOMBED
1. Tactical Growth Stunts Gameplay - Crossfire X
Ahhh Crossfire, what a weird and full of waifu series.
Despite its apparent immense popularity, mainly thanks to internet cafes overseas, I'd never heard of the Crossfire series, but thanks to the rather disastrous launch of Crossfire X, I've been hearing a lot about its teething problems, and trust me it's most definitely standing out now, but likely not for the reasons it likely intended.
While the gameplay might be as spicy as bread dipped in milk, and the graphics so forcibly sharpened that you could cut yourself on them, the real stinker of the bunch is the Tactical Growth system, which allows players to spend currency earned through kills to upgrade their character.
And I mean character, not loadout, as you can quite literally add in buffs like health regeneration, faster movement and even unlocking a faster rate of fire for your gun.
Can you see how this experience might end up as a little broken? You're basically rewarding those that are already good at the game with perks that make them nigh on unbeatable. The faster rate of fire popped me, especially as destroying gun balance in a game like this should be your number one goal to prevent right?
It seems like the community agrees on this topic as the game has been receiving a mauling that will likely leave the series buried deep below, with an X marking the spot.
