1. The Developers' Room - Chrono Trigger
As previously touched on, SNES role-playing classic Chrono Trigger was the game which popularised the alternate ending, offering 13 possible conclusions, some more upbeat and difficult to unlock than others.
The 'Dream Project' conclusion is one many players never got to see because it's the toughest of them all to trigger. After beating Chrono Trigger and starting a 'New Game Plus' it was possible to warp straight to the final boss battle, which is madness considering how ill-equipped for it you are by that stage.
Those who managed to defeat Lavos using only Crono and Marle got to meet the game's development team. Well, sort of. Achieving this feat unlocked a secret area populated by Square staff who are only too happy to chat with the protagonist.
Some of the blighters even played tricks on you, like threatening to reset the game and thrusting the player into yet another boss battle.
