8 SEVERELY Underused Locations In Video Games

1. Ireland

Every other setting we've looked at so far has been a specific time period in history, but what about countries in general? There are many nations that have never gotten their due in a video game, from Canada to Russia, Argentina to Holland. One that has never been properly featured though, one that has incredible topography, and a romantic and bloody history, is Ireland.

The Emerald Isle has only featured in a handful of video games over the years, and never prominently. You could have your pick of time periods as well, whether it was the old Neolithic people from 3,500 BC, who built complex tombs and buildings, the arrival of the Celts in the Iron Age, the Viking invasions, the nine-year war with England in the 1600s, the Irish War of Independence, Ireland during WWII, or the 1970's-90s Troubles.

Ireland has a very long, very important history and, for such a small country, is amongst the best known on the planet. We're long overdue a full-blown game set in the foggy Irish hills, or the streets of Belfast/Dublin.
