8 Things We Dearly Miss About The Original Splinter Cell Trilogy
2. The AI
Even in the original Splinter Cell the AI is impressively believable. They realistically investigate noises or sights and always react to your presence in a recognizable manner.
They're exactly what they need to be to help make a fun game, and never take away from the experience.
The way the NPCs broadcast information is dramatic. Moreover though, they're readable. This allows players to plan their next move based off what the characters are doing.
When Chaos Theory landed, they became more of a challenge too, which makes the interactions more tense.
Couple this with the very clever, consistently funny writing from the studio and the NPCs have the right amount of flair to make them very memorable.
Artificial intelligence is a small but crucial part of games and can be something that's overlooked, but when its done to push the experience beyond great to perfect (as it is here) it's hard to miss.
