8 Times The Internet Lied To You About Your Childhood Pokemon Cards

2. Blastoise - Base Set

The starter Pokémon from Red and Blue are so iconic that as a kid it was the benchmark for collecting, you had to have them and their subsequent final evolutions to be seen as a worthy trainer on the playground.

Blastoise was first printed in the Base Set and his Pokemon Power Rain Dance has gone down as one of the most busted abilities of all time. Blastoise is expensive for a number of reasons, for players of the old school formats they automatically need four copies for their water decks.

Similar to Pikachu Blastoise has been on a number of cards since its first printing and is a huge fan favourite. The original card looks amazing, the shades of blue and greens work perfectly together and the art by Ken Sugimori, the artist for much of the original 150 just looks breath-taking.

Today a Near Mint Blasty-boy from Base Set will set you back around £45.
