8 Times Video Games Directly Insulted Other Games

3. Timmy Vermicelli's Water Wings - Driver 3

Driver 3 vice city
Ubisoft Reflections

Maybe Reflections Interactive started it with their apparent plagiarism of Rockstar's ideas, or maybe Rockstar are to blame for turning the Ubisoft-owned protagonist into little more than a bad joke, but the fact is that it didn't end with Rockstar's gunning down of Tanner's likenesses.

By way of response, Reflections Interactive programmed a familiar-looking Easter egg into Driver 3.

Named Timmy Vermicelli, this particular extra is a blatant parody of Vice City's Tommy Vercetti, although in Driver 3 he is equipped with a lovely pair of inflatable water wings, a reference to the GTA protagonist's inability to swim.

When approached, Vermicelli will attack the player unprovoked. If you were to find and kill every Timmy Vermicelli hidden throughout Driver 3, you'd be rewarded with a few little gameplay tweaks.

It's an interesting take on the commonly used collectible, although it's certainly a weaker insult than Tanner's inclusion in GTA III.

Full marks to Reflections for creativity, but GTA quite clearly won the war against Driver on every front.
