8 Video Game Deaths That Just Didn't Work
1. Slippy Toad - Star Fox (SNES)
One of the really interesting things about the first Star Fox game is that your party members could, and if you were like me and too caught up in the banging soundtrack, WOULD die if you didn't rescue them whenever they ran into trouble.
In the follow up games they would retreat back to base to lick their wounds, but here? Once they go down, that's it, which actually made for some pretty tense moments... well that is unless it was Slippy Toad's death.
Now in all fairness, in this original form Slippy isn't actually that annoying, in fact he's downright reserved compared to his frustrating future self, but playing this game with the foresight of where he will end up makes it so incredibly hard to commit to pulling the trigger and saving him time and time again.
I won't lie to you: watching his ship go down in flames brought a smile to my face the likes of which I've never felt before. Good times.
