8 Video Game Developers Who Totally Sold Out

Rare

Oh. Well I guess not.

So Rare is, and for some forever will be, one of the cornerstone developers of their gaming youth. With titles like the phenominal 007 Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Diddy Kong Racing, and the Donkey Kong main games, this team shone as bright as its logo throughout the N64 period.

It seemed like everything they plied their trade to was guranteed to be a surefire hit, and of course when you're on a hotstreak of this calibre, it's sure to attract the attention of bigger fish. And one such whale was Microsoft, who took a shine to the plucky developer and wanted to add them to their ranks, and upon flopping what must probably could be described as a "dong made of solid gold" onto the table, Rare took them up on this offer and fell in line.

Problem is, is that this meant Rare also fell off the bloody map.

The price for their deal with Microsoft it seemed was to barely release any games and turn one of the most blue mouthed mascots they had into a cutesy squirrel aimed at shilling two of Microsofts hindenburg tecnhical disasters, namely Project Spark and The Hololens.
