8 Video Game DLCs That Broke EVERYTHING
2. Resident Evil 2 "Unlock Everything"
This one is a bit painful to talk about, and it's for one simple reason: The Resident Evil 2 Remake might well be one of my favourite video game experiences in recent memory.
The love and attention to detail that Capcom put into this project was truly something to be championed, and it brought a beloved classic roaring back into relevancy when it dropped in 2019.
The balancing of new and old was perfect as was the frantic action which seemed to always hit when you least expected it. Therefore it was a shame to see all of this balance completely undone by a rather oily decision to offer players the chance to unlock every reward in the game for a one-time payment of $5.
This means players could instantly have access to infinite ammo weapons, unbreakable knives and expanded inventories, in doing so removing the horror and tension from the experience, as well as deny themselves the enjoyment of actually completing the game under certain criteria to unlock more powerful playthings.
Blasting apart zombies with a rocket launcher that never ever quits is a fun time, but it is most definitely a broken one.
