8 Video Game Fan Theories So GOOD They Became Real
6. Big Boss Still Believes In Santa - Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
In 2006, the Christmas-themed Metal Gear Solid fan game Merry Gear Solid: Secret Santa was released, and in 2009 the sequel Merry Gear Solid 2: The Ghosts of Christmas Past came out.
Given that the first game casts players in the role of a Solid Snake-esque Santa and the second game has them starring as "Cold Snake" while trying to track down an M.I.A. Santa, it wasn't long before some fans considered how hilarious it'd be if the almost impossibly gruff Solid Snake - or his predecessor, Big Boss - actually believed in Santa.
Never one to be outdone, Hideo Kojima made this something of a reality in 2010's spin-off Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which features a hilarious recording where Big Boss reveals to Otacon's father Huey Emmerich that he does indeed believe in Santa.
At first Huey thinks that Big Boss is joking, but he earnestly insists that Santa brought him presents, angrily telling a deeply amused Huey, "He's real, I tell ya."
Much as Metal Gear Solid has always skirted on the fringes of silliness, knowing that one of gaming's all-time most badass characters is still a little kid at heart is strangely comforting.
