8 Video Game Remasters We DEMANDED (Then Instantly Regretted)
2. Halo: The Master Chief Colleciton
Four years. FOUR. YEARS.
That is how long it took (roughly) for a certain video game remaster collection to have stable online connectivity after its initial launch, and we're not talking about some small fry game from a dev house of just one person and an intern that takes way too long in the bathroom each day, we're talking about how it took four years for Halo: The Master Chief Collection to do what it should have been offering from day one.
The sheer mind-blowing irony of the true "Halo Killer" being Halo itself is beyond compare, as here in an effort to celebrate the works of Spartans all around the universe, Microsoft ended up unleashing a collection that was beyond bugged to the point that unofficial Halo 1 servers hosted by committed fans ran better than their output. Now to their credit, Microsoft did offer out some form of compensation to those affected by the online issues but did so in the form of a free Xbox Live subscription and a Halo avatar, seemingly unaware that these items basically remind the customer of the game their NOT PLAYING AND THE REASON AS TO WHY THEY'RE NOT PLAYING.
Still though at least all those months later you can finally appreciate the collection as it was meant to be, a glorious package that features updated graphics, quality of life tweaks, and even a neat feature to swap between the old graphics engine and the new at a click of a button. Still though that online mode for a long time might as well have come with a toxic waste warning for how irradiated it was.
