8 Video Game Remasters We DEMANDED (Then Instantly Regretted)
1. Ape Escape: On The Loose
There is honestly so much to love about the Ape Escape franchise.
From its ridiculous premise of grabbing gibbons across time and space, to its horrendous voice acting on the UK PS1 original, to the fact that the soundtrack to the games slap so hard it will leave you with cheeks redder than a baboon's, Ape Escape is just a pure slice of fun that is so very much needed in gaming in this day and age.
And of course who can forget that the original game was built from the ground up with the Dualshock Analog Controller in mind, and used this new tech to implement gadgets and gameplay features that felt absolutely revolutionary at the time?
Well, apparently the minds behind Ape Escape: On The Loose did, because they decided to remaster the original game for the PSP which lest we forget, is a console with only one Analog thumbstick. Talk about slipping on a banana peel.
While the game itself was received fairly well, the lack of the second thumbstick was painfully apparent as now gadgets and certain moves had to be accessed through the face buttons, killing movement entirely in some cases and making the game infinitely harder than it was originally designed to be. To call your game "on the loose" while certifiably restricting player freedom seems rather ironic all things considered.
