8 Video Game Secrets That ONLY Appear On Halloween
5. Cities Of Heroes
City of Heroes is no stranger to theming the game around special events, and would often bedeck a no-fire area of the world known as Pocket D - a fashionable night club in which villains and heroes could mingle - with all sorts of relevant items.
There would even be custom missions for the events that one could take part in. Obviously, the Halloween themed event is our focus today and aside from swarming the servers of heroes and villains with vampires, werewolves and zombies, it sees the world plunged into eternal night. Funnily enough, this actually affects the game by preventing mission givers and NPCs who spawn only in the day from showing up.
You could also take part in an extreme version of trick or treat, which allowed players to knock on doors in the hopes of receiving a cosmetic item, or finding themselves greeted with a monster or two who would try their best to knock the skeleton out of you. In amongst all of this is a little secret reference to the Charlie Brown Halloween Special,'It's The Great Pumpkin'. And it takes the form of a rock.
A simple rock.
The Rock is one of the random gifts you can get from the trick or treat door knocking, and acts as a single use item that does a pretty pathetic amount of damage. In the animated show, it's the trick or treat gift that Charlie Brown always receives because of his bad luck. It's a lovely little throwback that actually can be thrown at backs - and not actually that bad when you consider it could have been an actual vampire trying to nosh on you instead.
