8 Video Game Sequels That Fixed EVERYTHING
1. SSX Tricky
When the original SSX title dropped as a launch title for the PS2, a fair few outlets made the rather bold statement that they couldn't see how the snowboarding genre could be improved, seeing as the outlandish tracks, colourful characters and addictive gameplay really were the peak of the mountain at the time.
Oh, how silly those same outlets must have felt when SSX Tricky rolled around because my lord talk about an improvement in nearly every single department.
The fact that you only realize how sluggish the original felt when looking at the speed of Tricky highlights how good the sequel needed to be to top the original, and things were helped indefinitely by Tricky letting loose of the reigns and just having an utterly mental time.
From the cast of characters who were both humorous and hugely fun to play as, to the tracks that had jumped so steep you'd think they were drawn with an etch-a-sketch, this was a game so fuelled by chaotic energy that you'd wager that the mounds of snow were actually cocaine.
So stonkingly good was Tricky that many still hold it aloft as the best the series has ever gotten, and when you consider the outstanding SSX3 is a part of this conversation, that's no small claim.
