8 Video Game Sequels That Made You Say WHAT?!

6. Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor

When I first read that the almighty Steel Battalion was going to be making a return to the video game market let out an audible “what” as I tried to digest how much space I’d need for the oversized mech controller and how I’d convince my then-girlfriend to let this game into the house when it had already become a shrine to guitar hero and rock band plastic compensators for my unfulfilled dreams.

However, “What?” turned to “What.” the moment that I saw that the game would actually be making use of the notoriously Del Boy motion control system known as the Kinect. Surely you’d lose a tonne of the feel of a mech-based game without all the button presses and ridiculous start-up sequences?

Oh totally, as this game suuuuucked.

Cue frantic hand waving as you tried to get the game to even register you were in the room, screaming at the TV to just perform the most basic of actions and blowing your position when the game read you facepalming and weeping as “launch all missiles”

I love that this sequel was trying something different, but at the same time, it seemed every aspect it chose to change was the worst possible and went directly in the face of what the fans actually loved about the franchise.
