8 Video Game Side-Quests That Were Better Than The Main Story

1. From The Ground Up - Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

One of the most supremely satisfying things about Breath Of The Wild is how the game just throws you an entire world full of things to do and says "have fun with that champ" before then looking at your worried expression and whispers "don't worry there's no wrong order to do these things in, just go and explore"

And explore you shall, for this game has so much content stuffed into nearly every corner that it's almost impossible not to stumble upon a new questline just going for your morning jog. And here's the thing, in order to fully grasp the utter devastation that Calamity Gannon has wrought upon the world, you almost need to see how terrible things have gotten through these sidequests if you just went to Gannons flat and kicked his door in then you might miss out on some of the emotional impact upon defeating him.

Plus it'll be a right challenge without getting some gear and upgrades first!

And nothing better expresses the core themes of renewal than the quest "From The Ground Up" which will span a fair amount of your playthrough as it tasks you with rebuilding Tarrey Town with the help of different cultures and characters. By heading out and finding those able to shift rocks or repair buildings, you end up not only deepening your connection to the world but actively feel rewarded by seeing the community you've invested time into finally returning to its former glory.

Plus the items you then have access to from the vendors you've recruited will help immeasurably in your final clash. It's a sidequest that almost feels mandatory for how good it is.
