8 Video Game Side-Quests That Were Better Than The Main Story
2. The Game - Fable 3
To begin with. Apologies but you just lost The Game.
Now I've ruined your day, let's talk about one of the highlights of Fable 3 in an effort to make you feel better. While Fable 3 is no slouch in its storytelling department, when you step back and look at the road you travel it's a rather generic tale of revenge which is then replaced with an even more generic "there's something coming better stock up" third act, and as such you soon realize that the true enjoyment of this game comes from how you spend your downtime between these points.
And one such quest that is hands down better written, more engaging, and hilariously fun than the main quest comes in the shape of "The Game" which will see the player transported into the monstrously over-the-top world of Hollows and Hobbes aka this games version of Dungeons and Dragons! As the hero you must save a princess which is brilliantly voiced by those playing the game, making for some ridiculous dialogue between the group.
The mission itself is also filled with excellent moments, such as firebreathing chickens and an evil Baron that can only be slain with The Scimitar of Baron Slaying +3. It's silly, it's excellent fun and it's totally in keeping with Fable 3's quirky tone.
