8 Video Game Special Moves That Made You Say WHAT?!
3. Sticks To Snakes - Dungeons & Dragons: Tower Of Doom
Dungeons & Dragons as an experience is one built on special moves, as the game is so utterly granular that even punching an enemy is likely to be delivered alongside "and while I'm doing that I unleash the ghosts of my ancestors through my fingers and cast duplication on myself so eight of me attack the same spot".
Therefore, when booting up any Dungeons & Dragons video game experience, you best believe that fans were expecting some of these skills and spells to appear. For the most part, it's what you'd expect; fireballs, magic missiles, Turn Undead, and healing spells. Yet a rather humorous addition was afforded to the Cleric which certainly caught me off guard when playing through Tower of Doom.
So, gather around, fellow adventurers, and let's talk about the wonderful oddity that is Sticks to Snakes, a spell that turns a collection of twigs into a literal vipers' nest. Now in the tabletop game, there are a fair few uses for this, mainly revolving around scaring the piss out of people as their torch suddenly becomes a cobra, or causing utter chaos when you turn a Guy Fawkes event into a waking nightmare for the whole town. Yet it's a niche spell, to say the least, and so to see it here is as amusing as it is befuddling.
Plus, it's utterly hilarious to use when the other members of the party are summoning meteors down and firing off ice storms. Go, my bundle of asps!
