8 Video Games That Are Way More Intelligent Than You Think
3. Bioshock - Objectivism
This title is well known for its deep thought and allusions to Ayn Rand's philosophy of objectivism. With the "Who is Atlas?" posters referencing Rand's over a thousand page long novel Atlas Shrugged, and the main antagonist being in fact named Andrew Ryan, the connection is all too obvious.
Ryan, just like Rand, rejects religion and government - "No gods. No kings. Only man" - instead basing his faith in the power of an individual.
Opposing socialism, Rand clearly believed in self-hood, self-service and self-care. Basically, man should be allowed to do what he or she clearly intends. Its the man that shapes the society, not the other way round. The underwater Rapture rejects socialism and communism, in favour of free market.
Bioshock Infinite is also famously packed with meaning and even though both games deserve a spot on this list, the first instance of the franchise is featured here basically because it was, well, first.
