8 Video Games That Forced You To Battle Loved Ones

4. Yu-Gi-Oh Nightmare Troubadour

Ok so I won't lie, I mainly chose this entry because of the fact that the name "nightmare troubadour" is quite possibly the silliest title ever, and also one of the most fun to say.

Secondly, I guess that fighting a brainwashed Joey within the game ticks the box of forcing you to fight loved ones so it's a win-win for me and the ever-increasingly silly naming conventions of the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise.

What makes these recurring battles so memorable, aside from the fact that you're fighting one of your best mates in a Shadow Duel of all settings (which for the record makes the loser experience something truly harrowing like flashing images of your nan naked before your eyes or experiencing Death itself for a moment, which come to think of it are basically the same) is the fact that while the animated series paints Joey as a bit of a....how best to say it....s**t-box player, here he's a FOUR STAR DUELLIST.

Now I'm not as clued into Yu-Gi-Oh as I am to the likes of MTG but I'm pretty sure that four out of five stars isn't to be sniffed at. Hence Joey is less about his one-trick pony of just getting out Flame Swordsman and hoping for the best, and is summoning creatures from his Max Warrior deck which I assume has a fairly large number of warriors within! WOOF!
