8 Video Games That Forced You To Battle Loved Ones
5. Any Party Game
If ever there was a curse on the video game medium (outside of aggressive microtransactions) it's that of the "party game".
While these titles might tantalise prospective players with promises of fun times with friends and family members, and while their box art might scream "I wouldn't hurt a fly I promise" there exists within them a true evil so pure that it made Jeffrey Dharma go "that's a bit much for me like"
I'm speaking of course about the pivotal moment in which familial bonds are dissolved in acid, where lifelong friendships are burned to the ground all because the game in question rewards players for stabbing others in the back and stealing their gains through underhanded methods. The likes of Mario Party, Fall Guys, and numerous other titles champion the idea that only one will come out on top and that you must do everything in your power to make sure you're the sole survivor.
Therefore this becomes a rare instance where it's not necessarily the characters within the games airing their dirty laundry through fisticuffs and barbed words, and is instead an example of real-world relationships being put through the fires of name-calling, backstabbing, and enough swearing to make a sailor blush.
