8 Ways Infinite Warfare Is The Beginning Of The End For Call Of Duty

6. The 'Bad Guy' Is Already Terrible

Despite taking to the literal stars for an incredibly ambitious idea for COD, Activision premiered the new universe with one of the most boring and rote villains we've ever seen.

Now, Call of Duty's antagonists don't always need to be fleshed out psychopaths with motivations you can at least understand, but they do need to be something other than Evil Guy #6278. Besides mentioning the "Settlement Defence Front", there's nothing about this guy's monologue you haven't already heard a thousand times before.

Hell, if you programmed a computer to write an 'evil speech', it would kick back the same canned lines we've encountered time and again. Commenters have picked out that "We will rip you from history books" and "the whole world will bear witness to this" are kinda the opposite sentiment already, showing a marked and immediate tiredness in the script itself.

At this point, you're literally signing up just for the sake of a glorified fireworks display, which now that we're onto the thirteenth main instalment, just isn't good enough.
