8 Ways Video Games Make No Sense (And We Don't Care)

7. Merchants Will Buy Anything - So. Many. Games.

Splinter Cell

This nonsense is so commonplace it can't possibly be pinned down to just a single game, but its pervasiveness across genres makes it all the more daft.

Many, many games have merchant characters who you can buy and sell various wares from, and a high proportion of them will happily buy any old junk you've got in your inventory.

Because of course, it's an easy way for the player to manage their inventory and cash reserves.

But within the universe of the game itself, does it really make sense for this apothecary to buy up all of your disposable junk that they haven't got a hope in hell of selling on?

They seemingly have a bottomless pit of money to acquire any old crap you want to throw at them, no matter that they usually don't bother flogging it.

On a basic economic level it's totally bananas, but it is funny to picture these vendors with massive stockpiles of useless knick-knacks in their back storeroom.
